Ariki Creative was started in 2007, by Hori Te Ariki Mataki with an initial core focus on graphic design and illustration for iwi and community organisations in Ōtautahi. Today Ariki Creative has evolved into a diverse, multi-faceted powerhouse creative team with a reputation that precedes them. Offering design services that extend to web, animation, mobile, video and beyond.
The driving force behind the kaupapa of Ariki Creative is to create a space where creatives with all kinds of skillsets and from all walks of life can express their creativity and inspire fresh ideas. Fostering a deep core tikanga that celebrates culture, diversity and ideas from every perspective.
The Ariki Creative whānau come together to create, innovate and thrive in a supportive, inspirational environment driven by kaupapa and the well-being of the community. Interns arrive as beginners and are given the opportunity to explore their wildest out of the box originality and bring them to life.
Kaihautū Hori encourages his team to branch out into their own side hustles, giving them an unparalleled opportunity to discover, explore and push the boundaries of their the talents to be the best they can possibly be.

Ariki means Paramount Chief, the name Ariki Creative is in honour of the community leaders and generations of rangatira that served their community and who worked tirelessly with and for the people around them.

Whakatewhatewha - Explore
Our team will meet with you to explore the foundations of your project, dive deep into the why and get familiar with the details. So that we can move forward and develop a clear plan for your project.
Tautuhi - Define
Now is the point in the process where we nut out all of the details, defining the costs and estimating a time frame for the project from start to finish.
Utu waihanga - Scope
We scope out the creative brief for your project that is complete with all the finer details of costs and time for you to review. Once you have accepted the proposal your project can begin!
Auaha - Create
Mā pango, mā whero ka oti te mahi | Through the red and the black the work will be done.
